Resilience of Ukrainian Ports: Speech by Board Member of Ukrport and Owner of Dragon Maritime Drew International Attention in London
On April 29, 2026, the Port Infrastructure Protection Forum was held in London. The main objective of the forum was to consolidate efforts to enhance the security of maritime infrastructure.
The event was attended by representatives of European and international maritime security institutions, as well as government authorities from various countries. The official opening of the forum was conducted by Valerii Zaluzhnyi — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the IMO.
The key topics of discussion included:
- current global challenges and shortcomings in international regulation;
- comprehensive approaches to protection against cyberattacks and drone threats;
- mechanisms for countering hybrid threats in the maritime sector;
- training of personnel for work at critical infrastructure facilities.
Particular interest among participants was drawn by the speech of the owner of the maritime agency Dragon Maritime, Serhii Hronskyi. In his presentation, he outlined the scale of destruction caused by attacks on Ukrainian seaports and emphasized the resilience and uninterrupted operation of the industry even under constant threats. Special attention was given to maintaining the stability of port operations.
The speech once again confirmed that Ukrainian ports remain an important element of global logistics and require continued international support and coordinated efforts to ensure their security.
