How the 2025/26 grain season shaped up
By crop, exports since the start of the season were 18.594 Mt of corn, 12.271 Mt of wheat and 1.482 Mt of barley, with 2.589 Mt shipped in May alone. The total runs below the same point last year. The Ukrainian Grain Association has trimmed its full-season export forecast to about 40.5 Mt, down from an early estimate of 45.2 Mt, as reported by UkrAgroConsult.
The grain marketing year runs from July to June, so these are close to final season totals. The 2026/27 campaign opens in July with the new wheat and barley harvest.
Almost all of it leaves through the Odesa hub
Ukraine’s seaborne grain moves through the working ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi, loaded onto bulk carriers that typically take 10,000 to 60,000 tonnes a call. Pivdennyi’s deep berths handle the largest vessels. We line up the tonnage and the paperwork around confirmed berth windows — from ship chartering to freight forwarding for the inland and port legs.
For the new season, fix bulk tonnage and berth windows early. Slots and freight tighten once the corn harvest peaks in autumn and everyone competes for the same vessels.
Planning grain shipments for 2026/27
A grain parcel is only as smooth as its weakest document. We handle customs clearance and arrange cargo insurance against war and marine risk, so a fixed cargo does not stall at the quay over a phytosanitary certificate or a cover note. With 10+ years working the Odesa hub, we plan around the season’s rhythm rather than reacting to it.
